WELCOME

welcome-imageThe Vortran Laser Technology, Inc, Stradus™ family of lasers represents the finest (the Stradivari) lasers available. Technological advances in the Stradus™ lasers represent the culmination of over 70 years of Photonics Development experience by the R&D staff. The Stradus™ family of laser diode modules is truly an advanced 2nd generation product. Unparalleled stability in output power versus time as well as beam pointing stability versus time and temperature make the Stradus™ lasers the optimum choice for the most demanding flow-cytometry, medical diagnostics, microscope spectroscopy, industrial, and general laboratory R&D applications.

Vortran has combined the use of superior mechanical stability designs with a patent pending modular, sealed optics chamber for unsurpassed power stability - especially at violet and shorter wavelengths. No matter what contaminants may be present in the laser electronics or mechanical assemblies, the sealed optics module will maintain a clean environment for the complete optics path.

Vortran has combined the use of superior mechanical stability designs with a patent pending modular, sealed optics chamber for unsurpassed power stability at violet and shorter wavelengths. No matter what contaminants may be present in the laser electronics or mechanical assemblies, the sealed optics module will maintain a clean environment for the complete optics path. For applications where polarization ratio is important Vortran has incorporated an enhancement to allow polarization ratios to exceed 1000:1 as a standard option.

Vortran engineers have designed the optics and the mechanical assemblies to maintain uniform beam diameter and divergence characteristics across the complete wavelength spectrum. The Stradus™ line of lasers incorporate the highest power laser diodes in their designs so that users can depend on the necessary power to compliment their requirements. The development of the Stradus™ line of lasers will allow newer and higher powered diodes to be incorporated as they become available from the diode manufacturers. Electrically, the Stradus™ line of lasers is as quiet, or quieter, than any laser on the market and the packaging of the laser head electronics is a key factor in this feature. All electronics necessary to operate and control the laser are included in the head. All signals that are directly involved with driving the laser diode are mounted close to the diode itself. The sleek control box provides DC power, access to all laser features (RS-232, Analog Power Control, and a variety of I/O monitor and control signals) and allows the system to be completely CDRH compliant. Any user can have the laser up and operating in minutes through the use of a clean and efficient GUI (graphical user interface) residing on any laptop or desktop computer – or the user may opt to operate the laser manually with no computer interface. Each laser is shipped to operate in a stand-alone configuration. Simply apply 12 Volts and close the interlock and the system will come up at the rated laser power with no external controller or time consuming configuration required. If the user chooses to control the laser from the GUI, he will find the use of the controls to be very user friendly and very easy to understand. Up to four laser heads may be controlled and displayed simultaneously within the application. The GUI will support both USB and RS-232 communication separately or simultaneously.

The Stradus™ lasers are available in all the popular wavelengths - from deep red to ultra-violet (660nm, 642nm, 488nm, 473nm, 445nm, 405nm and 375nm) with new wavelengths available in the future. Maximum power output from precise coatings of the optics as well as efficient drive electronics allow these lasers to operate effectively throughout the life of the diode. A Stradus™ laser comes with an outstanding warranty – one year from delivery for any defects in workmanship or failure to meet any of the published specifications due to manufacture or quality issues. These lasers will allow the user to operate them 24/7 without fear of premature laser failure.

Finally, the Stradus™ line of lasers is designed and manufactured in the USA – Sacramento, California to be precise. Vortran has resided in California for over 26 years – the new laser products division has every intention of remaining there for at least another 26 years. Service personnel as well as applications experts are a mere phone call away and have many years of photonics development experience to assist customers in all aspects of incorporating the Stradus™ into their product or into their needs.
